My journey into mixed media collages marks the inception of my love for photography. At 19, having just finished high school, I spent the Christmas holidays at my Mum’s house, scanning in photos of my final-year art projects. Using a free copy of Photoshop from a PC magazine, I started experimenting. I took early selfies (before they were popular) and layered them into my art. This playful process of layering and transforming old art into new creations sparked both my passion for collages & photography. I developed a body of work with these digital collages for my art school application. During art school, I delved into printmaking and felt the same urge to repurpose my prints. I began tearing them up and creating new pieces, blending in my love for oil pastels and paint.

In 2024, my latest body of work continues this exploration of turning the old into the new. The paper in these collages is torn from old photography backdrop rolls, once dirtied and discarded, now revitalized. Rather than throwing away these backdrops, I felt compelled to repurpose them, reigniting my collage-making journey. My old techniques persist, but with a newfound vibrancy, inspired by my passion for colorful walls, mural painting, and photography.
