Jersey City, NJ – Loud Lolly is thrilled to announce the resounding success of “Meeting Mama,” an evocative photographic exhibition by renowned Australian photographer Averie Cole. The exhibition, held at Loud Lolly’s vibrant space, captivated attendees with its heartfelt celebration of motherhood, blending artistic excellence with intimate storytelling.
“Meeting Mama” showcases a series of striking portraits of mothers with their young children, capturing the serene beauty and profound pride they embody during this unique period of their lives. Each photograph is a testament to the transformative journey of motherhood, reflecting the deep connections and powerful emotions that define this pivotal experience. The project strips away the surface of the traditional glossy family photo, revealing the authentic and raw emotions that characterize the mother-child relationship.
Averie initially began this project to meet other moms in her neighborhood, seeking to connect and build a community. The exhibition goes beyond just displaying beautiful photographs; it fosters a sense of community and connection among mothers, creating a space for shared experiences and mutual support.
Feedback from the exhibition has been overwhelmingly positive, highlighting its impact and the quality of the work presented. One attendee, a seasoned art enthusiast, praised the event, stating, “All I feel like I do is go to art shows and gallery events, and last night was top tier for sure. The work was beautiful and so well curated.” Another guest emphasized the importance and potential of the event, suggesting that Loud Lolly presents similar exhibitions once a quarter, given the fantastic experience they had.
Averie Cole, who has over 20 years of experience in photography, expressed gratitude for the support and enthusiasm from the community. “Last night was fantastic,” said Cole. “It was so good to see people connect with the work and each other.”
Cole’s background includes a significant tenure at the Australian Centre for Photography, an experience that honed her skills and empowered her to produce and host exhibitions independently. Drawing from this rich background, Averie printed the majority of the exhibition’s prints herself, meticulously hung the work, and hosted the event in her combined work/live space at 150 Bay Street, Jersey City.
The success of “Meeting Mama” is not just a reflection of Cole’s talent but also her ability to create an inviting and engaging atmosphere for art lovers. The exhibition’s ambiance was enhanced by the venue’s dynamic setup, offering a fresh and interactive experience for attendees.
Loud Lolly, co-owned by Averie Cole and event planning expert Gina Squicciarini, aims to continue hosting impactful art events that celebrate creativity and community. With its unique approach to blending art, photography, and interactive experiences, Loud Lolly is quickly becoming one to watch in Jersey City’s vibrant cultural scene.
A special closing night event for “Meeting Mama” is planned for JC Fridays on September 13, promising an exciting culmination to this widely acclaimed exhibition. This event will offer another opportunity for the community to engage with Cole’s work and celebrate the beauty of motherhood through art.
For those who missed the opening night of “Meeting Mama,” the exhibition’s prints will not be for sale, but Averie has exciting plans to compile these prints and their accompanying stories into a book. This upcoming project will provide another opportunity to appreciate the depth and beauty of the “Meeting Mama” series.
